I'm sure for far too many of us, having an excess of breast milk on our hands is quite a common problem. But thankfully, now you don't have to worry or waste all that a second longer! Innovative individuals have been on the case and have found a number of applications for breast milk in cooking. And when you get down to it, is it really such a strange and innovative idea? I mean, we regularly drink cow's breast milk, so what really, is the difference?
That's what I thought. Interesting way to look at things, eh? Well now that your curiosity has been, undoubtedly sparked, read on for ways to get the most out of that extra breast milk.
#1: Mothers Cheese?
So what could be better than something so lovingly referred to as "human cheese"? While the concept of using human milk in cooking takes some getting used to, I think it would be easier if they came up with a better name, something about human cheese just doesn't sound right to me. Regardless of name, this is a way that you can use up that extra breast milk you certainly have lying around. Just remember, as with cows milk cheese, what the owner of the breast eats will have an impact of the taste of the cheese.
#2: Cupcakes Made with Mum Milk
We all know that cupcakes just plain rock, so for those of us who are a bit wary of the whole "breast milk cooking thing", this might be a good place to start our experimentation. Everyone loves cupcakes, so get adventurous and make your next batch using left over human milk. And then don't tell anyone what you are feeding them until they have finished eating.
#3: Breast Milk Yogurt
Active live cultures and all that other "whatnot" is truly incredibly good for us, so why not use that excess of breast milk to create breast milk yogurt? One has to take certain matters into their own, um, hands, and since Yoplait is not likely to indulge this market (is there one?) any time soon, we can make our own yogurt ourselves.
#4: Bread Made with mothers Milk
Many artisan breads require just a bit of milk to get that proper crumb and texture, so why not try using mothers milk next time you go to make bread instead? You will certainly not find anything like that even at the farmer's market, so you can treat your family to a completely one-of-a-kind artisan bread experience this way.
#5: Breast Milk Popsicles
For the particular baby or just as a frozen treat for the family, what could be better than a mothers milk Popsicle? Create these bad boys in whatever flavors you desire, put the mixture into prefabricated molds, and pop 'em in the freezer for a few hours. Then, you'll have a summery treat that is truly, truly, like none other.
#6: Human Milk Soups
Creamy soups are a favorite amongst many, and milk is the way that we can add this creaminess to a variety of different, hearty, soups and stews. Instead of relying on boring old cows milk, try using your wife's milk in your soups instead. Not only is this a great way to use up all that extra breast milk you have lying around, it will help to create a unique and unquestionably nutritious meal.
#7: Human Milk Ice Cream
Ice cream is one of the greatest inventions ever. So when you add breasts to the mix, I am all for it. So long as I don't think about it too much, I can go for the human milk ice cream. I mean, there are now soy based ice creams, rice based ice creams, why not breast based? Get the whole family involved for a fun and, well, truly unique ice cream making experience.
#8: Breast Milk Shake
Milk shakes are a great way to get that much needed calcium into our diet in a far more fun way than drinking boring old milk is. So why not take this a step further and use breast milk as the base for your next milk shake? Human milk contains nutrients that cannot be found in any other source, so if you are looking for a healthy and tasty way to get that nutrition, and use up that all too common excess of breast milk, try a breast milk shake!
#9: Cocktails Made with Human Milk
Breasts and booze, that is what makes the world go round right? So naturally, the idea of using breast milk as part of a cocktail is just a plain brilliant idea. Brilliant! While your favorite pub may be slow to catch on to the idea, there is no reason that you cannot feature mothers milk cocktails at your next little cocktail party or small gathering of friends. And once they find out what they've been drinking, your party is sure to be the subject of many lively discussions amongst your friends for years to come.
